Institutional Pitfalls of Higher Education Digitalization

The article identifies and systematizes the institutional pitfalls of higher education digitalization. They are: managerism in higher education, technological determinism, unreadiness or insufficient readiness of universities for the transition to online or hybrid education, reduction of higher education attractiveness among young people, increase of cyber-attacks risk against universities, difficulties with the introduction of technological innovations at universities and complexities in processing, analyzing and using big data due to great increase of its dimension. For each of the identified institutional pitfall, a definition is given and methods to overcome it are proposed. The authors suggest scenarios for higher education development under conditions of digitalization in Russia.Downloads
