Participation of the Civilian Component of the UN Peacekeeping Forces in the Settlement of Internal Armed Conflicts

Abstract

In the article some priority problems of the activity of the civil component of modern multicomponent missions of the United Nations are analyzed. It is noticed, that considerable expansion of the problems spectrum of the civil personnel of the United Nations happened in the first decade of the XXIst century during peace-making actions on the Balkans and in South East Asia. The basic directions of the activity of political subdivisions, encouragement of human rights provision, disarmament, demobilizations and reintegration and of some other subdivisions which are a part of civil component of multicomponent missions of the United Nations are analyzed. The conclusion is made that expansion of the problems spectrum of modern peace-making missions of the United Nations has led to the increase of the role of their civil component in the activity on maintenance of peace and of human rights.
