Assessment Perfection the of the Regional Competitiveness under Conditions of New Realities

Abstract

Modern realities of life are inextricably linked with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Many countries of the world are experiencing socio-economic crisis today, and Russia is not an exception. At the same time, under current conditions, the use of internal resources of the regions is of particular importance for maintenance of the country’s national economy. Coronavirus spreads swiftly and it is explained by several factors, including transport interconnection between countries and regions of the world, and growth of migration and tourist flows, as well as aging of the population. Unpreparedness of public health system for such a scale of morbidity played its important role. Thus, we consider readiness of public health system of the Russian Federation for an outbreak of infectious diseases like coronavirus infection to be an important criterion for competitiveness assessment of the regions in Russia. The article analyzes the competitiveness of Leningrad region on the basis of ratings. Besides, the necessity to improve methodological tools for assessing regional competitiveness, taking into account the consequences of Covid-19 pandemic is substantiated.
